What does it mean when an asset is highlighted in red?

Assets in the GullySMART app can be highlighted in red when the asset has either a sensitive discharge location or if a hazard has been recorded in the gully.

Two gullies shown in the app highlighted in red due to their sensitive discharge location. They are also ringed in yellow to show they are due to be cleaned, and show the vehicle over icon indicating that access was blocked by a vehicle on their most recent visit.

The red highlight alerts the gully crew to the fact that the asset has something they should be aware of before they open it and inspect or clean it.

Sensitive Discharge locations

If the asset discharges into a sensitive area, such as the following list, it will be highlighted red on the map:

  • Rivers
  • Sea
  • Bathing Water
  • Ditches

Assets with no location set, or set to Low risk will not be highlighted.

Hazards in Asset

Assets may also be highlighted red if a previous crew have recorded the presence of a hazard in the asset, such as:

  • Utilities (electricity, gas etc.) in the asset.
  • Shallow Pipework
  • Other

If a crew see an asset highlighted in red, they should always open the asset and view the structural information to find out which issue they need to take into consideration before accessing the asset.
