What Are Simple Assets?

What are simple assets, and what can they be used for?

Simple assets are a new asset type that can be used for adding almost anything to any system.

Simple assets allow you to record specific actions against items that do not need their own dedicated asset category or detailed information. These assets are used when only a single activity needs to be logged. The focus is on the action being performed, in contrast to regular assets where supporting information such as photos or condition reports are required.

Simple assets may not be visited regularly, but they provide a flexible way to capture straightforward activities on items that would not normally fall within asset categories.

Examples of Simple Asset Types

  • Signposts or litter bins in a Grass SMART system, to record that grass has been cut around their base.
  • Local washout hydrants in a Gully SMART system, allowing crews to log visits to refill with water.
  • Signposts or bus stops in a Tree SMART system, to record that vegetation has been cleared from sightlines.
  • SUDS assets within a Grass SMART systems, where only vegetation clearance may be recorded.

Simple assets are not suitable for items that require detailed records.
